Another video we shot was to demonstrate the concept of “cutting on action”. This is an editing technique where the editor tries to ensure that all cuts have action within the frame. This could be the character reaching for a beer, then taking the top off for example.
Cutting on action means that the viewer is concentrating on the action and becomes less aware of the editing itself. Cutting on action can also be used to help hide possible continuity issues as again, more attention is being paid to the action on screen, rather than the Mise- en-scene.
